Donald Trump is back on the campaign trail, pleading with conservative Christians to vote for him in an energetic, joke-filled speech at the Faith and Freedom Union conference in Washington, D.C., and telling a crowd in Philadelphia that his ramblings are a sign of genius.
At the Washington DC event, Trump bragged about proposing a UFC league for immigrants, claimed he had suffered “more wounds” than any other president and recounted a series of bizarre tales involving sharks, batteries and Hannibal Lecter.
In Philadelphia, Trump told NBC News that he has chosen a running mate but hasn't told anyone yet, but he plans to be present at Thursday's first presidential debate, where he faces off against Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, Judge Eileen Cannon on Friday accepted a motion by Trump's lawyers alleging that Jack Smith was illegally appointed special counsel in the Mar-a-Lago documents case.
Trump's argument that Smith's appointment was illegal stems from his contention that Attorney General Merrick Garland lacks the legal authority to appoint a special counsel who has not been confirmed by the Senate.
Cannon expressed skepticism, but also said the prosecutors' argument was an overly “flexible” interpretation of the Constitution.

And finally…
“The fake news will say, 'Trump is incoherent.' No, what I'm doing here is genius, but nobody gets it.”
“We're going to fight these scum that need to be defeated. We're going to fight them and we're going to win.”

Debate rules stipulate that candidates turn off their microphones when they are not answering questions, so Trump may not have much of a choice.

Why Evangelicals Still Support Trump: 'We All Broke the Ten Commandments'
Belle True Report from the Path to Majority Policy Conference, Washington, DC.
Wearing cowboy hats emblazoned with “Free Trump” brooches and waving American flags, evangelical Christians pledged to vote for Donald Trump at a key rally on Saturday, saying he is not perfect but “will do the right thing for America.”
Trump was the keynote speaker at the Washington DC Faith and Freedom Coalition, a politically influential group of conservative Christian activists who advocate for stricter abortion restrictions and a tougher stance on the southern border.
There, he called on his religious supporters to get out and vote, but also made particular light on the issue of abortion, a sensitive topic for Trump, who is set to become the Republican presidential nominee.
