MSNBC host Joy Reid She urged viewers not to believe the “nonsense” that “rich people” vote “against their own economic interests” and slammed the former president. Donald Trump's Wealthy supporters who prioritize “tax cuts” over “democracy.”
In the opening monologue Lead-out On Monday night, the host criticized “America's billionaires” for “stepping on each other” and “kissing Trump's ring” to gain support for the Republican candidate.
Reid: America's billionaires, oil, gas, tech, media and others, are jostling each other to get in front of Donald Trump and hand him millions of dollars in campaign funds to get him back in the White House. And in exchange for bribes, hat in hand, he's offering them deregulation, including drilling on public lands. That's one of two things to understand about the upcoming election. The other is that the massive tax cuts that Donald Trump signed in 2017, his first year in office, a dream that then-House Speaker Paul Ryan had for most of his adult life, are set to expire next New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025. This is why other billionaires and many non-billionaire rich people, including rappers, are kissing Trump's ring. It's all for the Benjamin babies. They don't care about democracy or the right to vote or women's rights. In fact, democracy and voting are inconvenient for the super-rich because when people have a choice, they almost always choose to tax the rich. Don't believe the bullshit that people vote against their economic interests. The people who vote for Trump and other Republicans are wealthier than average. They're not poor.
