LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Lansing Police Department has launched an investigation into a downtown Lansing store after someone shot into the store's front window Tuesday night.
The owners of the store, Young Brothers & Dairy, told 6 News the entire incident was captured on camera.
“I woke up this morning and checked the cameras and noticed the back window had been shot out,” said Lori Williams, one of the owners.
Lori said she arrived at her job on Michigan Avenue Wednesday morning to see broken glass.
“A man on a bicycle randomly aimed at the windows of our house and shot through the windows,” Lori said. “We're six blocks east of the Capitol, just below the police station. It seemed like he was aiming in multiple directions, and it was very unsettling.”
The incident happened around 11:30pm on Tuesday night. The store was closed at the time and no one was inside.
“They usually return to the scene of the crime, so the killer is probably out there on his bike,” Lori said. “Even one piece of information can help the police and help us.”
The company filed a report with the Lansing Police Department.
“Hopefully they can identify who did it and get him off the streets,” said one of the owners, Brad Williams.
It's unclear how much it will cost to replace the windows, but the owners told 6 News they're worried the shooting will drive away customers.
“This area is usually busy on a normal evening,” Brad says.
