This month, the annual Comic-Con International returns, bringing stars from popular TV shows and movies to San Diego.
From July 24 to July 28, the San Diego Convention Center will host special panels on everything from the history of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series to how to write, illustrate, create and publish your first comic book. Some of the biggest names in TV and film will appear at these panels and special events both inside and outside of this massive pop culture event. Throughout the convention's history, celebrities have been spotted all around the city, in coffee shops, hotel lobbies, airports and other local spots.
Here's a look at who fans can expect to see at San Diego Comic-Con, with more confirmed appearances and surprise appearances expected during the convention:
Melissa Barrera: The “Scream” actress will be appearing on a panel alongside other iconic Hollywood movie stars at Collider Ladies Night, which celebrates women pursuing their passions in pop culture. Moderated by Collider senior producer Perry Nemiroff, Barrera will sit next to “The Mandalorian” actress Katie O'Brian and “Mean Girls” actress Erika Henningsen to talk about her experiences navigating the film industry as a young woman. Friday 2-3pm. Ballroom 20.
Jason Derulo: Jason Derulo, the R&B and hip-hop singer known for hits like “Talk Dirty” and for posting quirky pranks and parody videos to his nearly 60 million TikTok followers, will headline the fandom-sponsored party. Derulo is a familiar face in the comic book world, having released a graphic novel, “Jason Derulo's UZO,” in 2021, which he co-wrote with Z2 Comics. Josh Gad: His playful voice has been heard everywhere from the role of Olaf in the Disney film Frozen to the role of Elder Arnold Cunningham in the Broadway film The Book of the Mole Man. Now, Gad is branching out into the world of comics with his recent collaboration with the Berkowitz brothers and Ariel Olivetti to bring comic fans a new book, The Writer. Together, they will host a panel discussion on how different religions from around the world have influenced the dark fantasy surrounding the fictional character Stan Segal.Friday 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Chris Hemsworth: Hemsworth, best known for playing the God of Thunder in the Marvel films, will be appearing at Comic-Con for his upcoming film “Transformers One,” due for release on September 20. Hemsworth will take part in a panel about the new movie alongside co-stars Brian Tyree Henry and Keegan-Michael Key, director Josh Cooley and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment will also be giving fans their first exclusive look at the film. Thursday 11:45am-12:45pm. Hall H.
Lisa: A global K-pop star will bring together BLACKPINK and anime fans for a concert exclusive to Crunchyroll. LiSA, known for her Demon Slayer theme song “Gurenge,” will headline the outdoor music venue The Radi Shell stage on Friday night. Doors open at 5pm for Comic-Con badge holders, and seating is first come, first served. Friday, 7 p.m., Jacobs Park.
Hugh Jackman: Since playing Wolverine in 2017's “Logan,” the Australian actor will return to the X-Men hero in Marvel's upcoming film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” due for release on July 26. Jackman appeared at a Marvel panel to mark the release of the new film alongside co-star Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige. The announcement was first reported by Deadline. Keegan-Michael Key: Comedian Keegan-Michael Key, formerly of the iconic comedy duo Key & Peele, stars as the robot voice of Bumblebee in the first fully animated Transformers movie. Key will join his co-stars on a panel to talk about his journey as a voice actor and his experience on set of Transformers One. Thursday 11:45am-12:45pm. Hall H.
Kel Mitchell: Actor Kel Mitchell, known to fans Ed from “Good Burgers” will be moderating Nickelodeon's “SpongeBob Squarepants” 25th Anniversary Panel, which will feature voice cast members Tom Kenny (SpongeBob Squarepants), Roger Bumpass (Squidward), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick) and Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), along with executive producers Mark Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller. Thursday 1-2pm. Hall H.
Patton Oswalt: The Rebels will unite during a panel titled “Star Wars: Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away,” moderated by actor and comedian Pat Oswald. The discussion will feature upcoming games, comics and books from the Star Wars universe. The panel will feature actors, artists and writers, as well as the voice cast of “Star Wars Outlaws.” Thursday 4:15-5:15 pm. Ballroom 20.
Jack Quaid: A special screening panel for the animated series My Adventures with Superman starring Jack Quaid will be flying into Comic-Con, with co-stars Alice Lee and Ishmael Sahid joining him to answer questions about season 2. Also joining the panel will be the animation's executive producers Jake Wyatt, Josie Campbell and Brendan Kroger to discuss the upcoming season 3. Ryan Reynolds: Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds will be making another cameo appearance at Comic-Con, along with Hugh Jackman, to promote the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, which hits theaters tomorrow, and to answer questions during a panel with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who confirmed in an interview that the trio will be at Comic-Con. deadline. Thursday 6:30-7:30pm. Hall H.
Ronda Rousey: Actress, former UFC and WWE champion, and now comic book artist Ronda Rousey will be promoting her debut graphic novel, “Expecting The Unexpected,” at this year's Comic-Con. Rousey will be joining a panel with artist Mike Deodato Jr., AWA Studios Chief Creative Officer Axel Alonso, and moderator former WWE champion Dave Bautista. Thursday, 10-11 a.m., Room 6A.
Bella Thorne: Actress, singer, director, and influencer Bella Thorne will be in attendance to give fans a first look at The Tower. She will be participating in a panel discussing the film alongside co-stars Jack Kilmer and Cam Gigandet, and director/writer Adam Segal. The Comic-Con panel describes the film as a fantasy drama about mermaids. Friday 4:45-5:45pm, Room 6A
