Celebrities are questioning President Joe Biden's current whereabouts, with country musician John Rich leading the way.
Biden announced Sunday that he would not seek reelection in 2024 and endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Biden's decision came after weeks of pressure from within his party and major Democratic donors to step down due to concerns about his age and mental health. Biden said he would not run for reelection but would serve the remainder of his term as president.
Just days before, Biden revealed on Wednesday that he had contracted COVID-19 and would be isolating until he recovered. The president has not been seen since, leading people to speculate on what is going on behind the scenes at the White House. Some are wondering if something nefarious is happening and Biden is not behind the decision to end his reelection campaign. And now, #WhereIsBiden is trending on X (formerly Twitter).
Newsweek Emails seeking comment were sent to spokespeople for Biden and Rich on Tuesday.
Rich, a Republican and ardent supporter of Donald Trump, posted on X: “Forget where Hunter is. Where's Joe?”
Rich rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the country music band Lone Star, and in the early 2000s he formed the band Big & Rich with country singer Big Kenny.
The 50-year-old has become a controversial figure in recent years for his political and social views. On X, he openly expresses his political opinions, often criticizing Biden and liberal politics in general, and campaigning against “wokeness.”
Rich was not the only one to raise similar questions on the social media site, with comedian Rob Schneider also questioning the president's whereabouts.
“Joe Biden seems to be in bed with some shady Democrats…where are they?” he asked.

Schneider previously described himself as a “lifelong Democrat,” but in 2013 he became a Republican and endorsed Republican California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly for governor. In his post, Morgan re-shared a video by author Matt Walsh, who posted a video of Biden getting off a plane, with the caption: “This was the last time Joe Biden was seen. 5 days ago. No one knows where he is, what he's doing, if he's safe, or who's running the country right now.”
At the time of writing, Morgan's post has been viewed 597,500 times.
Conservative political commentator Candace Owens shared a video of Biden calling into an event with Harris, his first public comments since contracting the virus. During the call, held on speakerphone by Harris' campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden praised the efforts of his former campaign staff.
“This is the full recording of Joe Biden's call into Kamala Harris' event just a few minutes ago. The first time we've heard from Biden in five days,” reads the caption of the video uploaded by Charlie Kirk.
Owens added: “This whole thing is very strange. He needs to show up in person and immediately.”
Newsweek Also on Tuesday, an email seeking comment was sent to a spokesman for Morgan, Owens & Schneider.
While many are wondering about the president's whereabouts, some followers of the trending hashtag couldn't care less about his whereabouts.
“'Where is Joe Biden' is seriously the dumbest trending topic. We know where he is. He is in quarantine until he is no longer contagious for COVID-19. You should do the same when you get sick,” one person wrote.
“For those wondering where Joe Biden is. He is still at home having tested positive for COVID-19 but is recovering well. Everyone in MAGA has dementia,” read another post which has been viewed 412,200 times.
A third user added: “What the hell is 'Where's Joe Biden?' He's 81 and everyone said he was too old to run and then he dropped out. He has Covid and is in quarantine. If he didn't have it people would be blaming him. I hate people and I need to get off this stupid app.”
On Sunday, Biden's physician, Kevin O'Connor, issued an update on the president's health after he tested positive for COVID-19. The doctor's letter to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre came the same day Biden announced he would not run for reelection.
“President Biden has completed his eighth dose of Paxlovir. [an antiviral COVID-19 medication] “This morning his condition has improved significantly. Pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature are completely normal. Oxygen saturation on room air remains excellent. Lungs remain clear,” O'Connor wrote.
“The President continues to tolerate treatment without issue and will continue his Paxlovid treatment as scheduled. He continues to carry out all of his presidential duties.”
She added: “We will continue to keep you updated on any changes to his condition or treatment plan.”
Biden's departure on Sunday came after weeks of growing calls for him to stop campaigning following his disastrous performance at the Atlanta debate, and since he was diagnosed with COVID-19, top Democratic leaders in Congress have reportedly privately advised the president to stop campaigning.
Now that Biden has left office, Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison Newsweek The party said it would “follow a transparent and orderly process” to select a new candidate, and Ms Harris is currently the front-runner to win the nomination.
