WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A fire at the Le Russi warehouse Friday morning impacted local businesses.
According to the Wichita Fire Department, they were called to a report of a fire at 214 S. Commerce St. at 7:49 a.m. on Friday, March 8.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the front of the two-story building.
It was determined that the fire was caused by a fire that occurred in the basement of the building. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire.
“Since there were no natural openings in the basement, crews quickly installed multiple blowers to remove smoke from the building,” WFD said.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Investigation is ongoing.
In the meantime, a meal train has been set up for the Le Russi family to receive meals, donations and gift cards. Click here for more information and to donate.
“On March 8th, Le Roussi’s warehouse suffered a devastating fire that damaged an entire floor of the rental property. They are currently working on rebuilding, securing temporary storage, and arranging insurance. They could use our support!'' said Nathan Axman. “The process of rebuilding from a fire is exhausting and all-consuming. Those who have interacted with Jorge and Kathy will know that they are the kindest, most generous people and have contributed so much to our community and industry. You know they have made a great contribution. Let's help them carry this burden!”
Axman said the Le Roussi family is also accepting funds for takeout and groceries through Venmo. You can donate to @MrLeLuci.
