Melville, New York, December 6, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–December 6, 2023–COMTEC (NASDAQ: CMTL), a global technology leader, today announced that John Rattigan, a leader in the satellite communications (SATCOM) and defense technology industry, will join the company. Announced the appointment of its first Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO).
With differentiated expertise across the global satellite technology sector, Mr. Rattigan brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to his position as Comtech's CCDO. Mr. Rattigan's experience is uniquely aligned with Comtech's strategic business priorities and continued expansion into new growth markets.
Prior to joining Comtech, Ratigan served as CEO and President of iDirect Government and also served on the executive committee of ST Engineering iDirect. As Mr. Rattigan's first employee, he founded iDirect Government and grew the company to over $100 million in annual revenue. During his tenure as CEO and President, Rattigan has built his team of over 200 highly qualified professionals, taking iDirect Government from a start-up to producing thousands of innovative modem devices supporting the U.S. Government and the U.S. Department of State. He was responsible for growing the company into a renowned technology leader in deploying solutions and satellite technology. He has defense (Department of Defense) customers around the world. Mr. Rattigan was also responsible for the acquisition of GlowLink and its proprietary Interference Mitigation Technology (CSIR), which he merged with his Evolution technology, which is unique to iDirect. This has enabled the company to become the largest provider of time division multiple access (TDMA) SATCOM capabilities for the US Department of Defense.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Rattigan held East Coast operations at Fairchild Data and EF DATA (now Comtech). As the company's leader, Mr. Rattigan helped grow EF DATA's revenue from $20 million to $120 million in less than eight years. During his tenure, Mr. Rattigan played a key role in making his EFDATA the preeminent leader in single channel/carrier (SCPC) satellite technology. This provided me with valuable insight into technology transitions and leadership experience that will help me in subsequent roles. In addition to founding his own company, Mr. Rattigan held the position of senior vice president of North and South American sales for the startup Broadlogic, just as companies began operating his IP directly via satellite. I was serving.
Mr. Rattigan began his career in the U.S. Senate under Sen. Bill Armstrong (R-Colo.) and held multiple sales positions at Xerox Corporation as a member of the legal sales team.
Rattigan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Maryland.
