April is off to a pretty busy start with a variety of contests. Presidential primaries are being held in four states. There are also runoffs from last month's state primary, a special election for Congress, and a mayoral election.
president
Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden have had their nominations on hold for weeks. Each candidate will likely win the majority of available delegates on Tuesday.
The delegate count for April 2 also includes the number of delegates from Delaware, whose scheduled presidential primary election was canceled.

Voting ends at 8pm ET.
Delaware (cancelled)
Under state law, if there is only one candidate on the ballot, there is no primary election. That primary was canceled months ago because Joe Biden was the only eligible Democratic nominee. Republican Nikki Haley withdrew after voting closed. However, a bill was quickly passed that would also cancel the primary election.

Voting ends at 9pm ET.
For Democrats, New York is the second-largest delegate award after California. On the Republican side, it ranks fourth behind California, Texas, and Florida.
rhode island
Voting ends at 8pm ET.
wisconsin
Voting ends at 9pm ET.
primary outflow
If no candidate received a majority of votes in the Arkansas (March 5) and Mississippi (March 12) primaries, the top two candidates advanced to a runoff election.
Voting in Mississippi ends at 8:00 p.m. ET, and voting in Arkansas ends at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Legislative special feature
Alabama Congressional District 27 (Primary District)
Republicans hold a commanding 75-28 lead over Democrats in the Alabama House of Representatives. There are 2 vacancies. The term of membership is his four years. The next election will be in 2026.
District 27 is located between Huntsville and Gadsden. Republican Wes Kitchens was elected to the state Senate earlier this year. Kitchens won against his Democratic challenger in 2022 by a margin of 89% to 11%.
There are no Democrats running for this seat, so the winner of the Republican primary is almost certain to be the next representative.
There are six candidates on the ballot, and a runoff election could be held on April 30th. Voting ends at 8pm ET.
South Carolina State House District 109
Republicans hold a strong 88-35 lead in the South Carolina House of Representatives. The term of membership is two years. The next election will be in November.
There is one vacancy and it is located in District 109, northwest of Charleston. Democrat Deon Tedder resigned after winning the state Senate race last November.
There were no Republicans running here. Democrat Tiffany Spann-Wilder won the January primary. She has no opposition on the general election ballot.

Mayoral
Population ranks are based on Census Bureau estimates as of July 1, 2022. These are intended for the city itself, not the associated metropolitan area.
Both of these elections are officially nonpartisan.
milwaukee
Milwaukee is the 31st largest city with a population of approximately 563,000. Mayor Cavalier Johnson (Democrat) won the 2022 special election following Tom Barrett's resignation. He is currently seeking to serve a full four-year term.
The Rev. David King also advanced from the top two primaries on February 20th. Today's poll showed Mr. Johnson leading Mr. King 87% to 10%.
anchorage
The 73rd largest city in the country has a population of approximately 287,000 people. David Bronson (R) is seeking a second three-year term.
Bronson has many challengers. If no candidate receives 45% of the votes, the top two candidates will advance to a runoff election on May 14th.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, there will likely be a runoff election, with Bronson winning one spot and “former Assembly Speaker Suzanne LaFrance and former Anchorage Economic Development Corporation Director Bill It's a three-way race for second place between Mr. Popp and a former Democratic state representative. Member Chris Tuck. ”
