Albany, New York, went viral this week due to negative comments made by ESPN announcer Rebecca Lobo. Lobo said she was in the nation's capital for the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, which will be held at MVP Arena. “By the way, good luck if you find something to do in Albany.”
This isn't the first time a celebrity has cast a shadow over Albany, New York. Here are five other celebrities who received hate in Albany. There are different reasons for each of the situations below, but it's up to you to decide if it's justified.

#5 – David Letterman
According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel, in 1993 David Letterman was talking about high-speed rail in New York state when he joked: “Why would anyone want to get to Albany in 55 minutes?”

#4 – Bert Kreischer
In 2019, comedian Bert Kreischer appeared on the YouTube show First We Feast and was asked, “Of the 28 cities you visited, which one had the most garbage dumps?” His belated response was, “By the way, that was Albany.”
“Albany wasn't the worst, the venue was the worst,” Kreischer explained on social media. At the first show they ran out of beer and only gave everyone two beers. You're the bullish type—that's my opinion. ”

#3 – Cardi B
In October 2017, Eonline.com reported that artist Cardi B abruptly left the Hilton Hotel in Albany. There are reports that authorities accused her and her team of smoking marijuana, which she denied, adding that the allegations were racially motivated.

In a separate assault at the Albany Hilton Hotel in August 2022, Hall & Oates' Darryl Hall was on stage at a SPAC when he hated the hotel. Darryl Hall didn't really care about his room, he explained, according to the Times Union. It wasn't good because there were no windows and he doesn't smoke crack or shoot ups or anything like that.
