Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did not put his name on the ballot and has remained mum about his 2024 presidential vote.
In an interview with “Fox & Friends” shared on Friday, the wrestler and actor reflected on his support for President Joe Biden in 2020. “What this did, then and now, was gut-wrenching for me. It's divisive,” Johnson said, adding that he would not do that this election cycle.
“Then months and months went by and I started to realize, 'Wow, that was incredibly divisive in this country,'” the “Black Adam” star said. “I will not do that, because my goal is to unite the country. I believe in that in my DNA. So in that spirit, I will not support it. ”
Mr Johnson added: “I'm not scared at all, I'm just aware that there's this level of influence…I keep my politics to myself and it's between me and the ballot box. I think it's a problem between the two,” he added.
Biden and former President Donald Trump are the presumptive Democratic and Republican candidates, respectively, in the 2024 presidential election this November. Third-party candidates include Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein.
No matter what happens in this election, Johnson said he will support the president. “I trust the American people, and I trust whoever they vote for. That's going to be my president, and I'm going to support that person 100 percent.” he said.
Mr Johnson did not say which way his vote had swung, but said he wanted the country to move away from “wake culture” and “cancel culture” because “it's really upsetting”.
The “Jumanji” star also stressed that he has no intention of throwing himself into the electoral ring. “That's not my intention. I'm not a politician and I'm not interested in politics. I care deeply about this country. … In the spirit of uniting people and uniting the country. I don't know if that's right.'' Please move on at this point. ”
Johnson teased in 2017 that he would run for president in 2024, telling Variety that it was a “realistic consideration.”
