The race between President Biden and former President Trump in North Carolina is close, according to a new poll released Wednesday.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll, Mr. Trump's approval rating among North Carolina voters was 46% for Mr. Biden, compared to 48%, giving him a narrow lead over Mr. Biden. When independents and Green Party candidates were considered, 41% of voters supported Mr. Trump, while 38% supported Mr. Biden.
According to the poll, 12% chose independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and 3% chose independent candidate Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
“While overall voter enthusiasm for Biden and Trump is lukewarm at best, nearly 1 in 5 North Carolina voters view third-party candidates with open minds, which could lead to a tough race in a close race.” “There's a lot of gender,” said Tim Malloy of Quinnipiac University. polling analysts said in a statement.
Democrats are eyeing North Carolina as a candidate state to flip to Biden, who narrowly lost to President Trump in 2020. Mr. Biden visited North Carolina late last month and emphasized that he had “served the South.”
According to The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters North Carolina Polling Average, based on 25 polls, Mr. Trump has a 5.2 point lead over Mr. Biden.
The poll also found that Democrat Josh Stein has an 8 percentage point lead over Republican Mark Robinson in the gubernatorial race.
Stein said last month that he would welcome Biden to campaign for him in the Tar Heel State.
The poll was conducted April 4-8 among 1,401 registered voters in the state and had a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.
