Nexus Louisiana could have a new permanent leader this year.
as Business report The organization plans to contract with a search firm in early May after its board approves an RFP to select a search firm to help recruit its next leader, the organization wrote in its latest issue.
The business incubator currently supports 30 companies and is working to shift its focus to identifying long-term, multi-year partnerships to increase sustainability.
After 14 years with Nexus Louisiana, former President and CEO Genevieve Silverman resigned in June 2022. At the time, financial records from Research Park Corporation, Nexus Louisiana's parent company, showed the organization had a $280,771 budget shortfall that year and had no revenue. $2,578,258 plus expenses totaling $2,859,029.
Since her departure, Calvin Mills, an entrepreneur and former chairman of the organization's board, has served as interim CEO. He had never thought of becoming the top executive of an organization, but when he got the call, he said he felt a pull to lead.
“My focus was on software companies,” Mills says. “To me, he had no ambition to be CEO of Nexus, but he did what any leader would do: step up when needed.”
