Roberto Cavalli, the eponymous founder of the Italian fashion house whose bold and intricate designs were worn by Taylor Swift, Madonna, Zendaya and other A-listers, has died. He was 83 years old.
The company he founded in 1970 announced the news on Instagram on Friday.
“It is with great sadness that today we say our final goodbye to our founder Robert Cavalli. From humble beginnings in Florence, Roberto has become a globally recognized name, loved and respected by all. “We were extremely successful,” the statement said.
“A naturally talented and creative man, Roberto believed that everyone could discover and develop the artist within themselves,” the message continues. “Roberto Cavalli's legacy will live on through his creativity, his love of nature and the family he cherished.”
“Dear Roberto, you may no longer be physically with us, but know that I will always feel your spirit with me,” the brand's creative director Fausto Paglissi said in a statement. “Working for you has been the greatest honor of my career.” It is about continuing the tradition and creating for the brand that was founded with such vision and style. ”
He wrote, “Rest in Peace, you will be missed and your name will remain a beacon of inspiration to others, and especially to me, as you are loved by many.'' ” he concluded.
The fashion house also quoted Cavalli as saying, “I copy animal dresses because I love imitating God. I think God is the greatest designer.”
His designs were known for bold prints inspired by zebras, jaguars, cheetahs, and more. In February, during Milan Fashion Week, the brand unveiled its Fall/Winter 2024-25 collection. The collection was designed by Puglissi and features a marble-inspired print called “Hymn to Transformation,'' where the multicolored marble represents and inspires a woman's preparation for transformation. , evolve and reinterpret yourself. ”
