Before Election Day, candidates from the two major political parties will make campaign stops in Pennsylvania.
There is a good chance that Pennsylvania will be a make-or-break state in the White House race.
28/22 News sought insight into what the Keystone State means in this critical election year.
Former President Donald Trump rallied his supporters Saturday night near Allentown.
President Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden are keeping an eye on our nation's battleground states.
Pennsylvania is contesting 19 electoral votes in the Keystone State.
Only four states have at least the same number of electoral votes: California, Florida, Texas, and New York.
“Again, no one is going to take that for granted. It's a close call,” said Luzerne County Democratic Party Chairman Thomas Shubila.
Pennsylvania's popular vote in November will receive all 19 electors, and the outcome could be decided by a small number of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.
“These are the people who are going to sway the election in one way or another. Pennsylvania is making a difference, and northeastern Pennsylvania is one of the key areas,” said political analyst Dr. David Saucer. said.
As evidence, Trump won the Keystone State in his 2016 presidential victory, and Biden won Pennsylvania in 2020 on his way to the White House.
Sausard added, “Nobody can win the presidency anymore without Pennsylvania.”
“It's do or die. Pennsylvania is definitely do or die,” Shubila said.
Mr. Saucer expects Mr. Biden, a Scranton native, to target large cities such as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia during the campaign, while Mr. Trump is aiming for smaller attacks.
“Would you rather vote for a hometown boy or someone who feels your pain?” Sausard asked.
Key topics such as the economy, immigration and abortion will be critical to winning Pennsylvania votes.
“It's do or die. Penn State is definitely do or die. Again, if you look at the numbers, even mathematically, it's very difficult to overcome winless Penn State. . We really have to clean up. And in our region, it's still make or break,” Shuvira continued.
It's a region that could decide a rematch of the 2020 race for the White House.
“This campaign has the potential to make Pennsylvania a really exciting place to be, and I can’t wait,” Saucer said.
President Biden will visit Scranton on Tuesday and visit both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia later in the week.
Former President Trump is waiting to hear from Republican leaders on whether he will campaign in Pennsylvania before the April 23 primary.
