“I don't have cancer,” Griffin revealed on the show in November 2021. jimmy kimmel live. “I don't know why. I had a tumor, right? I'd never smoked. The tumor had been on the tumor for 10 years.”
The comedian, who first opened up about being diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in August 2021, explained that he underwent surgery to remove half of his left lung due to health concerns.
“They took it out and found it on another scan. So I went in and [the doctor’s]When I explained how they were going to take out half of her lungs, he said, 'It's like a balloon,''' she recalled, noting that doctors tried to keep things light during the intense procedure. “So we did it laparoscopically and we poked it and he said, 'And when we take it out, it looks like a used condom.' It's okay,' I said. ”
The Illinois native said she is currently healthy, but her vocal cords have been affected as a result of lung surgery. “It'll heal, but I'm kind of enjoying it,” she said of her new high-pitched voice. “I think it's two octaves higher. Higher than that.” mariah carey, I know it. “
