Global superstar Justin Bieber will be joining Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews and defenseman Morgan Rielly at the Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Player Draft to be held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on February 2nd. We plan to team up with them to select one of the four teams.
Rather than each division in the NHL being represented by an 11-player team, the 2024 Honda (USA)/Rogers (Canada) NHL All-Star Game will be held on February 3rd. Four teams of 11 players (9 skaters, 2 goalkeepers) will participate. Captain and Celebrity Captain.
Team Matthews will wear blue NHL All-Star jerseys.
Team McDavid will be led by Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid, with Oilers center Leon Draisaitl as assistant and Toronto-born actor Will Arnett as celebrity captain. That team will wear white All-Star jerseys.
“It's exciting,” McDavid said. “Obviously we're there to entertain so hopefully we can do that that weekend and make the event a success. It's in my hometown so I definitely I’m looking forward to it.”
Team Hughes will be led by New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes and his brother, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes, along with Grammy Award-winning musician Michael Bublé. Team Hughes will wear red All-Star jerseys.
“I'm getting closer and closer to my dream of becoming an honorable Hughes brother,” Bublé said. “I think the word Hugh Bure is perfect for me.”
Team McKinnon is led by Colorado Avalanche center Nathan McKinnon, along with assistant and teammate Cale Makar and Canadian multi-platinum singer, songwriter and dancer Tate McRae. Team McKinnon will wear yellow jerseys.
All-Star Weekend, to be held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd, will have a completely new look this year. Tim Hortons' NHL All-Star Player Draft (6 p.m. ET, SN, ESPN) is back as part of a new event, “NHL All-Star Thursdays.”
The NHL Alumni Association will announce the Player of the Year in honor of the last team to win the Stanley Cup (SN), the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs. There will also be 3-on-3 games in the Women's Professional Hockey League (SN, ESPN+).
The 2024 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings Sportsbook takes place on February 2 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS) and is new this year, featuring 12 NHL All-Stars. Compete for points. It will be played over eight events, with the NHL All-Star with the most points winning a $1 million prize.
Canucks JT Miller and Quinn Hughes were announced Saturday as winners of the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills Fan Vote sponsored by MassMutual, joining Canucks teammate Elias Pettersson. Matthews and William Nylander of the host Maple Leafs. Jack Hughes, McKinnon, Makar, McDavid, Draisaitl. Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning. and David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins.
The 12 NHL All-Stars in the skills competition will each compete in four of the first six events: Fastenal NHL Fastest Skater, Rogers NHL Hardest Shot, Upper Deck NHL Stick Handling, Tim Hortons NHL One Timers, Scotia Bank NHL Passing Challenge, Cheetos NHL Accuracy Shooting. 1st place gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 4 points, and so on.
The top eight will advance to the seventh event, the Honda NHL Shootout.
The top six finishers will advance to the final event, the Pepsi NHL Obstacle Course. The event includes all skills and doubles the points for him. 1st place will receive 10 points and 2nd place will receive 8 points.
The All-Star Game on February 3 (3 p.m. ET, ABC, ESPN+, SN, CBC, TVAS) will continue the 3-on-3 format introduced in 2016.
