These days, it's impossible to buy a paperback without visiting a new celebrity book club (but then why buy a paperback?). First it was Oprah, then Reese, and then a succession of svelte blondes who were clearly bored and (judging by their Instagram) poolside-ready. It seems like this trend is picking up steam. Dakota Johnson—But I feel like there are some gaps in the current celebrity world, so in the spirit of democratic trendsetting, here are some stars I personally would like to see join the subscription-based stack.
Paul Giamatti

Our favorite feeling alto and one-third of the supergroup Boy Genius, she's been delighting her followers with her wise, well-thought-out book recommendations for years. Goodreads Profile (This is one of the few arguments I can still make about the site.) With the current Annie Ernaux craze and her own consistently poignant lyricism, I’m ready to follow LD into the dark… corners of indie bookstores.
Subscribers expect:Heartfelt contemporary poets like Ada Limon and Jericho Brown, shy female protagonists and psychological, introspective character studies of adult men.

Look, my human brain knows that actor George Takei is not Sulu, the character he plays. Star TrekAs comedy writer Roman DiBiase puts it: Party Down, Not the actor Martin Starr. That being said. Let's briefly imagine a world in which the Romans of this world compete for monthly endorsements from some sci-fi legend. Given Takei's assured and sparkling social media presence, he would make a gracious and insightful judge of weird new worlds and “hard sci-fi.”
