Massachusetts certainly has its fair share of prominent citizens. Many notable actors, politicians, artists, and writers hail from the Bay State. But what happens to the celebrities who are still here long after they're gone? All of the following people have made significant contributions to our culture and society. Some were born and raised in Massachusetts, while others only spent a short time here. All seven of his men mentioned have decided to make this great state their final home.

I was surprised to learn that the creator of some of my favorite horror movies, including “A Nightmare on Elm Street'' and “Scream,'' is buried in the Bay State. Yes, Wes Craven was also buried on Martha's Vineyard. Craven died of brain cancer in 2015. His grave is in Lambert Cove Cemetery in West Tisbury.
4. Jerry Stiller
Jewish Cemetery, Nantucket Island, Massachusetts 02554, USA
Vineyards aren't the only resting places for the rich and famous on the Massachusetts island. On nearby Nantucket Island, there is the grave of actor Jerry Stiller, who is buried in the Nantucket Jewish Cemetery. Stiller has had a long career in stage, television, and film, and is known for his comedic roles on Seinfeld, King of Queens, and the movie Zoolander. He lived a long and fulfilling life and died of natural causes in 2020 at the age of 92.
5. Jack Kerouac
Edson Cemetery, 1375 Gorham St, Lowell, MA 01852, USA
Many famous authors are buried in Massachusetts, including novelist Jack Kerouac. His 1951 book On the Road became a highly influential novel. Kerouac is credited with starting the “Beat” movement and inspiring the music of many popular bands of the 1960s. Kerouac died in 1969 from an abdominal hemorrhage at the age of just 47. He is buried in Edson Cemetery in his hometown of Lowell. There is also a monument park in the city dedicated to the author.
6. Clara Barton
North Cemetery, 505 Main St, Oxford, MA 01540, USA
Nurse Clara Barton certainly made a great contribution to our country. Not only did Burton serve as a teacher and nurse in the Civil War, she founded the American Red Cross in 1881. Burton was born in North Oxford, Massachusetts, and she was buried in her family's plot in the town's North Cemetery. She lived to be 90 years old.
7. Captain Hanson Gregory
Sailors Snug Harbor, Quincy, MA 02169, USA
You may not know the name Captain Hanson Gregory, but you will definitely recognize his outstanding contributions. Gregory is none other than the inventor of the ring-shaped donut. Born in Maine in 1831, Captain came up with the donut concept in 1847 while still in his teens. He spent his later years in Quincy, Massachusetts, and was buried in Sailor's Snug Harbor in 1921.
