The country music star met Akins when they were in grade school in Georgia. As they went on to high school, their relationship turned romantic. Their relationship soured during their teenage years, but they rekindled after college and married in October 2012.
“I dated her once when I was 15, but it didn't work out. We dated for about six months,” Rhett said. Taste of the Country Speaking ahead of their wedding, she said: “We remained best friends after we split up. We both dated other people for about five years. When I heard she'd ended her other relationship, I rushed over. We kissed and that was it.”
Stephen and Ayesha are another celebrity couple who bonded over their faith as teenagers.
“Dating wasn't allowed in high school,” Aisha said. Parents Magazine “We always laugh about it, we were both focused on God,” she recalled of meeting the future NBA star at age 14. The athlete added, “I always had my eye on her, but it definitely shook me up a little bit.”
After spending years as friends, the two began dating in their early 20s. “I was 23 and she was 22, but I knew I'd found the girl of my dreams and I wanted to start a life with her,” Steven said.
