What is MrBeast's net worth?
MrBeast is an American YouTube star, philanthropist, and entrepreneur with a net worth of $1 billion. MrBeast's net worth is based on a modest valuation of his far-reaching empire, but also takes into account the fact that MrBeast has not traditionally made a profit from his videos. MrBeast has repeatedly insisted that he reinvests all of the revenue he makes from his videos into future video production. In November 2022, it was reported that MrBeast was seeking investors to invest in his business at a valuation of $1.5 billion.
In January 2024, it was reported that Mr. Beast was in talks with Amazon for exclusive streaming series rights for $100 million. As part of a 2024 trial related to his Mr. Beast burger, an “Assets and Monetization Review” organizational chart was submitted as evidence and eventually made public. According to the organizational chart, in 2023, Mr. Beast's empire generated $223 million in total revenue and is on pace to generate $700 million in 2024 (as of February 2024). Thanks to these revelations, in June 2024, Mr. Beast officially became a billionaire for the first time. He achieved the feat at age 26, making him the eighth youngest billionaire in the world. However, of the 16 world billionaires under the age of 30 at the time, all but Mr. Beast inherited their fortunes.
Mr. Beast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, is known for his YouTube stunts that involve large donations to friends and charities. He is considered the pioneer of charitable YouTube stunt videos. He is also one of the highest-paid YouTubers on the planet. In 2020, he made $24 million from his YouTube channel, merchandise sales, and sponsorships with brands such as Microsoft and Electronic Arts. In 2021, he made about $30 million from YouTube ads and $10 million from sponsors, totaling $50 million. His stunts tend to have a charitable side, such as donating money to strangers and adopting entire shelters of rescued dogs.
At the time of writing, his main channels Mr Beast, MrBeast Gaming, MrBeast 2, Beast Reacts, and MrBeast Philanthropy boast over 415 million subscribers. MrBeast's main channel alone has 270 million subscribers, making it the most subscribed account on YouTube.
Early life and career beginnings
Jimmy Donaldson was born on May 7, 1998 in Greenville, North Carolina, and attended Greenville Christian Academy, graduating in 2016. He began posting videos on YouTube at the age of 12 under the username “MrBeast6000”. He briefly attended college but dropped out to pursue a full-time career on YouTube. In his early videos, he primarily posted video game commentaries, reaction videos, and funny video compilations.
Mr. Beast's success
Jimmy first gained widespread popularity in 2017 after he released his video “Counting to 100,000,” in which he counted to 100,000 over the course of 44 hours. The video has been viewed more than 21 million times.
He later posted a video counting up to 200,000. Other notable feats include reading the dictionary, reading the script for “Bee Movie,” taking an Uber around the US, saying “Logan Paul” 100,000 times, and watching the awful Jake Paul music video “It's Every Day Bro” on repeat for 10 hours straight.
Currently, his YouTube accounts have a total of over 400 million subscribers and tens of billions of video views. Most of his average videos have over 20 million views. He was nominated for Vlogger of the Year at the 2019 Shorty Awards. He won the Breakout Creator award. He was nominated for Favorite Male Social Star at the 2020 Kids' Choice Awards. He won the YouTuber of the Year award in 2020. He also won Creator of the Year in 2020 at the Streamy Awards.
Stunt charity work
Jimmy made his big bucks in 2018 when he started doing “philanthropic stunts.” In one of his most popular videos from this period, Mr. Beast donated $1,000 to a stranger. Soon, millions of fans subscribed to his channel, and he donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, even a million.
In December 2019, he posted a video challenging people to hold on to a pile of $1 million in cash. The last person to let go would win the money.
Monthly Video Production Budget
MrBeast admits that he spends the same amount as his monthly income on content creation, a figure that fits considering he literally donates $1 million for some videos, and he spends at least $3 million a month on production costs, staff salaries, rent, etc.
Monthly Revenue
As mentioned above, MrBeast makes at least $3 million a month from views on his YouTube videos. For example, in March 2022, MrBeast uploaded 54 videos across 13 channels. These 54 videos garnered a total of 283 million views. To understand how much this has generated, we first recognize that MrBeast has three main sources of income:
- Advertising Revenue
- Sponsorship
- merchandise
Approach each source:
Advertising Revenue
Video ad CPMs vary greatly by country. Video ads in the US and Canada pay significantly more than ad views in Brazil. However, it's safe to assume that the average video CPM is $5. This means that MrBeast's net profit will be $5 per 1,000 views. With 283 million views, that would be a net profit of $1.4 million.
Sponsorship
It was previously reported that MrBeast is charging $1 million per month for the main sponsorship on his main video page — for example, in March his sponsor was credit reporting company Experian — and it's safe to assume that Beast is bringing in at least another $1 million through sponsorships on his other channels, for a total of $2 million.
merchandise
AKA the Holy Grail of Secrets. Last year, when MrBeast made about $54 million, various reports say about half of that came from merchandise sales. That's the equivalent of $2.25 million per month. Let's round that down to $2 million, to be conservative.
Adding these three sources of income together, we get:
1.4 + 2 + 2 = $5.4 million
This equates to $174,193 in daily earnings during March.
Team Tree
In October 2019, Jimmy and former NASA engineer Mark Rober launched a fundraising challenge called #TeamTrees. Their goal was to raise $20 million for the Arbor Day Foundation within three months. They exceeded their $20 million goal within two months, and as of this writing, the project has raised $23 million and planted over 7 million trees. When they eventually reach their goal of 20 million trees, the project will have removed an estimated 1.6 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere, as well as 116,000 tons of chemical air pollution.
Mobile Games
In June 2020, MrBeast released a multiplayer endurance game called “Finger on the App.” The concept of the game is actually quite simple: users from all over the world must hold their finger on their phone screen within the app, and the last person to release their finger wins $25,000.
Awards
MrBeast has been nominated for several notable awards throughout his career, including winning Breakout Creator at the Streamy Awards in 2019. He was also nominated for Ensemble Cast and Creator of the Year in the same year.
In 2020, MrBeast won the following Streamy Awards:
- Creator of the Year
- Live Special
- Social Contribution: Creators
- Social Good: NGO Non-Profit
In the same year, he won the Shorty Award for Best YouTuber of the Year. At the 12th Annual Streamy Awards in 2022, he won the Social Good: Creator Award and Brand Engagement Award.
In 2021, he was nominated for Best Male Social Star at the Kids' Choice Awards. At the 2022 Kids' Choice Awards, Mr.Beast won the award for Best Male Creator. He won the same award again in 2023. Upon receiving the award, he was criticized for:
Mr. Beast Burger
In December 2020, Jimmy launched “MrBeast Burger” in partnership with over 300 restaurants across the United States. The day after releasing the MrBeast Burger app on the Apple Store, the app quickly rose to the top of the most popular free apps on the platform. To date, he has sold over 1 million burgers.
In September 2022, he opened a brick-and-mortar Mister Beast Burger store at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Mister Beast later expressed regret that he could not guarantee the quality and expressed a desire to close the Mister Beast Burger business, but Virtual Dining Concepts said it would not allow that.
Unfortunately, in the end, the Mr. Beast Burger did not pan out. In August 2023, Mr. Beast filed a lawsuit against Virtual Dining Concepts, a partner in the venture, alleging that the company made inedible, low-quality food. The lawsuit also claimed that in the nearly three years since the burger was released, Mr. Beast had not made a single dollar from the venture. In August 2023, it was announced that Virtual Dining would file a countersuit against Mr. Beast for $100 million.
Clothing Line
Outside of YouTube income, MrBeast's second largest source of income is his merch line. Sold through shopmrbeast.com, he offers a wide range of products, including t-shirts, hoodies, hats, water bottles, mouse pads, backpacks, and more. It's estimated that around 40% of MrBeast's annual income comes from merch sales.
Feast
In January 2022, Mr. Beast announced Feasibles, a food company that launched its own line of chocolate bars called “Mr. Beast Bars.” This was followed by several sweepstakes, challenges, and giveaways, and in April 2023, the company expanded to include a line of gummy candies in collaboration with Carl Jacobs called “Carl Gummies.”
Philanthropy
Over the years, MrBeast has donated or raised tens of millions of dollars for various charities. In his stunt videos, he has donated items to homeless shelters, veterans' programs, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and local animal shelters in Los Angeles. For example, in one December 2018 video, he donated $100,000 worth of clothing and other items to a homeless shelter.
In October 2019, Jimmy partnered with NASA engineer and YouTuber Mark Rober to start a foundation called #TeamTrees. The goal was to raise $20 million in the next three months to donate to the Arbor Day Foundation, which will plant one tree for every dollar raised. Dozens of YouTubers banded together to promote the effort. Within 24 hours of launch, #TeamTrees had raised $4 million. By December, it had raised more than $20 million. As of this writing, it has raised more than $22 million.
Personal Life
Jimmy has an inflammatory bowel disease called Crohn's disease. He was diagnosed with the disease when he was in the ninth grade. He has spoken for years about his long-term struggle with the debilitating disease. Prior to his diagnosis, he was sick almost every day and once lost 30 pounds over the summer due to extreme discomfort. In addition to medication, Mr. Beast is on a pretty strict diet.
she
Jimmy began dating Maddie Spidell in June 2019. The two met on Twitter.
Maddie was first revealed to be Mr. Beast's girlfriend in February 2020 in a video titled “I Surprised My Girlfriend with 100,000 Roses for Valentine's Day,” which has been viewed over 50 million times as of the time of writing. Maddie has since appeared in several of Mr. Beast's videos, including “I Adopted All the Dogs at the Shelter” and “I Spent 50 Hours in Solitary Confinement.”
