Shannen Doherty is remembered throughout Hollywood.

Since Doherty's death, people who knew her and fans of her work have taken to social media to share messages and memories of the late actress, including Viola Davis, who reacted to the news in a comment on PEOPLE's Instagram post about Doherty's passing.
“Oh so sad. Rest in peace ❤,” the Oscar winner wrote.
Other reactions to PEOPLE's post included Olivia Munn, who shared several broken heart emojis, Niecy Nash, who commented with multiple dove emojis, and Kristin Chenoweth, who wrote, “Fly with the angels, my sweet precious soul!”
Candiace Dillard also commented, writing, “Lord 💔💔 I loved her so much. My condolences to her family and friends ❤️❤️❤️.”
In the comments section of Doherty's final Instagram post, shared on June 25, several stars, including Kate Beckinsale and Selma Blair, spoke out about her death.
Beckinsale wrote in the comments section, “I love you. Fly high you sweet and kind woman. This is so hard. I will sorely miss your heart, courage and kindness ♥️♥️💔💔💔,” while Blair wrote, “♥️Thank you for being here. Thank you for showing me how to keep moving forward. Rebel heart.”
Jason Momoa also commented on the post with hearts and heartbreak.
In the comments section of another People magazine article, featuring a clip from Doherty's final interview, several stars shared their reactions.
Candance Cameron Bure and Sasha Farber both commented with a series of heartbroken emojis, while Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi wrote, “😢 🙏🏾.”
Katie Couric paid tribute on social media, posting a series of photos of the stars, including one of the pair embracing each other at the event.
“So sad to hear this news,” she wrote.
Longtime friend Chris Cortazzo, who was with Doherty the last time she was photographed in public, posted a tribute to her, sharing photos and videos they'd taken throughout their friendship.
“My dearest friend and my heart. We have shared so many memories and laughs throughout this journey. You have been my protector, my best friend and my divine wife. My heart is broken. I love you forever my dear best friend,” he wrote. “Your Christopher.”
Doherty's ex-fiancé, film director Rob Weiss, also posted a tribute on Instagram along with a series of photos from their time as a couple.
“There's so much to say about this woman…her fight, her strength, her courage, but also her vulnerability, her fragility and depth,” he began. “Honestly, there's more feeling than I can comprehend right now, but I will share more when the time is right. For now, I'm just grateful to have been able to spend time with her recently and reminisce about her pod, and of course, I'm grateful for all the years we've had together, all the good and the bad, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. A big part of my heart will always belong to you, Shannen, and I know you know that ❤️”

Doherty's co-stars also released their own statements on social media.
Eric West, who starred with the late star in the 2021 film “Star Wars: Episode I: The Final Battle,” Fortresswrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he was “heartbroken.”
“I had the pleasure of meeting Shannen Doherty a little over two years ago while filming Fortess,” the actress wrote. “She was full of warm energy and positivity. So young and so talented. Rest in peace.”
Matilda Actress Mara Wilson also shared a touching post recalling a childhood memory with Doherty: “I've posted this story three times already, but I'm going to post it for the fourth time. When I was a kid, I was invited to a Danny DeVito party. I was on the dance floor with some friends my age, and my younger sister (maybe 5 or 6) was dancing alone, when a beautiful woman who I immediately recognized came down to her eye level and said, 'Hi, I'm Shanann! What's your name?'” Wilson recalled.
“I had heard her 'bad reviews' but it was the first time I realized the media perception was probably a lie,” she continued. “I will never forget, and always will remember, how sweet she was to little girls.”
FOX Entertainment also released a statement remembering Doherty, whom they called “television royalty.”

Beverly Hills, 90210” is an iconic series that helped solidify FOX's position as a king of television and define the bold, provocative identity for which FOX has become known,” the article reads. “Though Shanann was too young to leave us, throughout her decades-long career she has built a legacy that will be forever remembered and celebrated.”
Doherty's death comes after the actress had battled cancer for years: in 2023, she spoke to People magazine about her breast cancer, which had spread to her bones at the time.
Munn, who spoke about her breast cancer diagnosis with People magazine earlier this year, wrote in an Instagram Story that she was “truly heartbroken” by Doherty's death.
“I remember when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she bravely shared her journey with the world and reached out to help me,” Mann wrote. “We became instant friends, and honestly, at times I didn't understand. 90210 That was everything to me as a 10-year-old.”
The actress later elaborated that the pair “bonded over our shared struggles and desire to help other women.”
“Looking back at her last email a few months ago, she asked how I was doing and if there was anything she could do for me,” Mann wrote. “As always, Shanann offered her support, even though she was in the final stages of her battle with this horrible disease. Cancer is truly frightening, but Shanann faced it with so much dignity, strength and grace.”
“Her mother was her best friend, her hero and her constant advocate. I send her all my love,” she added. “Fly high my friend.”
Creator of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa Riverdale, upon Doherty appeared on the show to pay tribute to her close friend and actor Luke Perry, who died in 2019, and shared a little about her on Instagram.
“Rest in peace Shannen Doherty,” he wrote. “I grew up watching you in so many iconic and meaningful movies and shows. I'm incredibly honored, humbled and grateful to have you as a part of the most special episode of #Riverdale ever. Thank you forever. 💔😰💔😰🚀.”
Dave Coulier told X magazine that he met Doherty “on a trip to London.Full house “She was such a lovely person and had such a beautiful smile,” he said in his eulogy, in which he remembered the other women he'd lost in his life and included a photo of Doherty wearing a Stand Up to Cancer T-shirt.
“Today I also think of the women in my life who I have lost to cancer – my mum, my sister Sharon and my niece Shannon. They were all so strong and beautiful. #RIPShannenDoherty #RIP,” Courier wrote.
In a post on X, Marcia Cross wrote that Doherty “survived her battle with cancer very publicly and so bravely,” adding, “I will miss her fierce spirit. ♥️.”
Daniel Waters, screenwriter Heathersposted a photo of the actress' painting on X, saying he wakes up to it “every morning.”

Musician Butch Walker posted a lengthy tribute to his neighbour and close friend Doherty on Instagram, calling him “the most genuine person.”
“I can't believe you've passed away. You were so resilient, strong and graceful in the face of your illness. At times I forgot you had stage 4 disease because you carried yourself with your trademark confidence and attitude. I never could have imagined that one day you would be gone from us.”
Yvette Nicole Brown called it “very sad news” in a post on X, writing, “I was really hoping she would beat this again.”

Other filmmakers also paid tribute to the star over the weekend, including Kevin Smith, who directed Dougherty in the 1995 hit. Doherty's podcast shared its own tribute on Instagram, alongside a series of old photos of the star.
