Taylor Swift is definitely a woman of the moment.
34 year old's new album tortured poet section not only broke Spotify's record for most streams in a single day, but he's also now officially the most streamed artist in the world.
Still, as the Queen of Pop herself says, haters will inevitably hate. And apparently, there were quite a few in her former hometown as well.
A woman who went to the same high school as the pop sensation claims the world's most successful singer was actually not that popular among her classmates.
In a clip posted a month before Tay's 2022 album release. midnightTikToker Jessica McClain said she and the multi-award winning artist attended Hendersonville High School in 2006.
This was the year the “Shake It Off” singer “got really big,” McClain told viewers, adding, “When she first started having big success, most people didn't know who she was. “I hated it,” he said.
The TikToker has since clarified that these alleged haters are not “random people on the internet,” but rather classmates of the teenager at the time.
McClain continued, “She literally dropped out of high school at 16, 17 years old to pursue a career that people told her she would never have,” and released her hit single “Teardrops On.” Swift left the group the same year that “My Guitar'' was released. She dropped out of Hendersonville High School and received her home schooling.
“And the guys she wrote these songs for were still in school. They were still there. And now they're talking about what great boyfriends they are. “I have a hit song about it,” she continued.
“There have been a lot of rumors about how she got her start in the first place, but we don't really know,” she added. She had good things to say about her. ”
Although McClain admitted he didn't know Swift personally, he said “everything was clear.” [she] “It’s intentional,” she says of the results.
Three years after Swift left the school, and when McClain herself was a senior, the “Love Story” singer invited the entire senior class to the 2009 Country Music Association Awards.
McClain exclaimed: I mean, who gets invited to the CMAs by Taylor Swift? Cool.
But she added: “It was very serendipitous. Like, I had no idea why Taylor Swift invited us to the CMAs.”
But this TikToker had a theory. “As we all know, 2009 is the year she ruined the game. Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year…”
She also claimed that Swift had been planning the invitation for three years in advance because she was at the height of her fame and wanted to show off her success to her former detractors.
“Hey, she invited us to the CMAs and said fuck it,” McClain said. “And we deserved it.”
“So, touch Taylor, that was nice.”
In just six weeks, McClain's video garnered more than 6.5 million views and 6,500 comments, prompting a series of follow-up surveys. In some cases, McClain provided photographic and written evidence that the two had indeed been together as students.
She admitted that there was “definitely some jealousy” when it came to her relationship with the superstar, and that because of the town's proximity to Nashville, everyone knew someone in the music industry or someone trying to break into the industry. explained.
Still, while others have to be content with performing at local coffee shops, Swift has actually found great success.
“It's not that these people aren't talented, it's just that most of them don't make it,” she says.
“And I won’t lie, back then, [Swift] She didn't have as much control over her voice as she does now, and there were a lot of people in high school who had better voices. ”
However, she admitted that they simply “weren't Taylor Swift.”
But there's no “Bad Blood,” right?
