Fashion lovers, the time has come: 2024
The Met Gala is just around the corner, and our eyes are on the red carpet as global stars show off their best style.
The dress code for this year's event is “Garden of Time,” inspired by British author J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. Stars will also be checking out “Sleeping Beauties: A Fashion Renaissance,” a new spring exhibit opening simultaneously at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. According to the Met's website, the exhibit is “visually unified with nature-related iconography, serving as a metaphor for fashion's fragility and transience, and as a vehicle for examining cyclical themes of regeneration and renewal.”
Someone has sleeping beauty FYI, as we've seen in past years, we can also expect participating designers to have some fun with the concept: 2023's theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: The Line of Beauty,” featured some spectacular appearances from some of our favorite celebrities and a variety of unexpected results.
The evening's celebrity co-chairs are Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny. The 2024 sponsors are Loewe and TikTok, and the honorary chairs are TikTok CEO Shou Chu and designer Jonathan Anderson.
