So, who are the most famous people from Tennessee?
There are countless answers, as there are countless musicians and entertainers from the Volunteer State.
But a new poll by facialpeople.io seeks to settle this debate.
Famouspeople.io conducted a study that evaluated more than 3,000 people from various fields and ran metrics on traits such as fame, likes and dislikes.
The data is based on a nationally representative survey of the U.S. population, in which individuals were presented with a famous person and asked whether they were familiar with that person. For the purposes of this poll, celebrities are “from” the state in which they were born.
According to Celebrity.io's poll, the most famous people in Tennessee are:
1st place: Justin Timberlake
For Memphians, Justin Timberlake's No. 1 spot comes as no surprise. Timberlake's rise to fame began in the late 1990s when he debuted with NSYNC. From there, he launched a successful solo career in 2002 and has continued to release his music ever since. Born January 31, 1981 in Memphis, Timberlake has also had success on the big screen, appearing in the Trolls series, Palmer and The Social Network.

2nd place: Morgan Freeman
The second spot goes to Morgan Freeman, also a Memphis native, born June 1, 1937 in Bluff City. He has been active as an actor since the 1960s. With a resume of hit films, his most notable roles include Million Dollar Baby, Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven, and Invictus. . Freeman won an Oscar in 2005 for his supporting role in Million Dollar Baby.
3rd place: Dolly Parton
Almost everyone in America knows Dolly Parton's country music. Tennesseans know more about her, including her philanthropic work and her theme parks, Pigeon, Her Forge, and Dollywood. Born on January 19, 1946 at the Pittman Center, Parton has won 10 Grammy Awards in a career spanning more than 60 years. Her numerous career honors include induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
4th place: Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus ranks fourth on the list, behind her godmother Dolly Parton. Born in Franklin on November 23, 1992, Cyrus rose to fame early on as the lead character in the double life of Hannah Montana. These days, Cyrus has been recognized for his music career. The lead track from her latest album, “Flowers,” charted around the world this summer and remains in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

5th place: Megan Fox
The last Tennessean on the list is Megan Fox, who was born in Oak Ridge on May 16, 1986. Her film career as an actress includes appearances in “Jennifer's Body'', “Transformers'', and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen''.
